Knowledge Integration developed the core CIIM processing modules in response to an invitation to tender from MoL. It now powers their main Collections Online search interface (third party design) along with the PictureBank website (designed by Gooii) and the Pocket Histories online learning resources. The customisable extraction routine talks directly to MIMSY XG and then (after safety validation checks) publishes the data into searchable indexes for the website(s) and OAI-PMH for syndication.

The CIIM augmentation layer is used to both automatically link objects to their image purchase site (where images are available to buy) and also to provide contextual description for the Picturebank website. More recently MoL have used the CIIM to enhance the public view of their Curated Groups by the addition of images and detailed descriptive text. A bespoke signoff routine within MISMY has been implemented which is checked by the CIIM to ensure that objects are ready to be extracted/published and to allow them to fall back to a lower conformance level if there were any validation issues.
